Sky Schedule

Sky Schedule started with one question in a hangar and turned into a full operating system for flight schools. Built from scratch, designed to be clean, and made to replace the outdated tools running this industry.

Sky Schedule started from a simple question I asked my brother:

“What does your current flight school use for software?”

Built in a hanger btw :)

The answer he gave me was one I already knew deep down an outdated system that looks like it hasn’t been updated since Windows 7. I’ve been around aviation my entire life. My dad is a captain for Southwest Airlines, and my younger brother recently became a certified flight instructor. So when he told me about the broken tools flight schools still rely on, it clicked instantly. I knew I could build something better. I knew I should.

At its core, Sky Schedule is a flight school operating system. It’s software designed to help schools run more smoothly—scheduling, billing, managing students and aircraft, assigning instructors, and automating the tasks that normally take hours of manual follow-up. Most schools today use a single legacy platform, and that platform dominates the entire market. It’s clunky, slow, expensive, and yet still somehow the default.

In under four months, I went from concept to full build. I designed every screen, mapped every feature, and built a working MVP using tools like v0.dev, Cursor, Framer, and GitHub Copilot. The front end is built in React with Tailwind, and the mobile component is being constructed with React Native. I used AI to accelerate the process but not to skip steps. Every element is intentional. Every interaction was crafted based on what schools actually need, not just what I thought looked good.

I’ve been lucky enough to build an incredible team around this. Our lead developer is a double-major Stanford graduate, and he’s the one writing the production-level backend and managing all things related to database architecture, security, and infrastructure. I handle the product side. I’m responsible for UI/UX, the roadmap, timelines, decisions, and communication between every moving part. I’m not the one pushing code, but I know every piece of the puzzle.

Another key addition is my close friend Andrew. He’s a University of Michigan BBA who’s now our COO and essentially a second version of me handling operations, outreach, and sales while I stay locked into the product. When I told him about the project, he was genuinely fired up. That excitement hasn’t slowed down, and I’m beyond glad to have him on board. We move fast, and we move with purpose.

This is just the beginning. Aviation has a massive software problem from flight schools to tower communications to maintenance operations. It’s all disconnected, dated, and hard to use. Our long-term goal is to build tools that bring all of it into the modern era. For now, we’re starting with the one area we understand best: the training pipeline. Flight schools are where new pilots begin, and that’s where the foundation of this ecosystem lives.

Sky Schedule includes features that schools need to run efficiently in today’s world. Stripe Connect for split payments. QuickBooks Connect for bookkeeping. Hobbs-based billing and custom rates by aircraft. Flight request forms. Review automations. Smart workflows. Iframe embeddables that let schools show availability and collect leads directly from their websites. One-click calendar syncing. And a clean dashboard that works across desktop and mobile.

What’s even crazier is that our main competitor doesn’t let students call or message their instructor. That alone should tell you how behind the industry is. We’re building tools that don’t just work—they feel modern, responsive, and clear. That’s what Sky Schedule is about. Not bells and whistles. Just thoughtful software that makes flight schools more professional and easier to run.

We’re not finished yet. But the progress in just a few months shows what happens when you care about the details. This isn’t a white-labeled product. It’s not a skin on top of someone else’s tech. We’re building it from scratch, for real users, with the intention of making a lasting impact on an industry that deserves better.
